The short version

Use Cognitive for learning, be respectful, keep your account secure, do not exploit the service, and do not use explicit or offensive names or content. We may remove content or restrict accounts to keep the service safe.

1. Agreement to these Terms

By creating an account, accessing, or using Cognitive, you agree to these Terms of Service and any policies linked from them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

If these Terms are updated: we will change the version and effective date. Your continued use of Cognitive after updated Terms take effect means you agree to the updated Terms. Where a change is significant or law requires it, we may also ask you to confirm acceptance again.

2. Eligibility, schools, and younger users

You must be able to agree to these Terms or use Cognitive with permission from a parent, guardian, school, or other authorised adult where required. School-managed users must also follow their school’s rules. Teachers and school administrators are responsible for using their elevated access appropriately.

3. Acceptable use

  • Use Cognitive only for its intended study, revision, planning, and educational purposes. Do not use Cognitive in any way it is not meant to be used.
  • Do not bypass limits, exploit bugs, manipulate rewards, automate activity, scrape data, disrupt the service, or attempt unauthorised access.
  • Do not create, upload, request, or share illegal, harmful, sexually explicit, hateful, threatening, harassing, deceptive, or otherwise offensive content.
  • Do not impersonate others, cheat, infringe intellectual-property rights, distribute malware, or interfere with another user.
  • Report serious misuse or security problems instead of exploiting them.

4. Accounts, passwords, and names

You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your password secure. Usernames, city names, mind maps, flashcards, and other names must not be explicit, offensive, hateful, misleading, or reveal sensitive personal information. Request a username change in Settings if your current name may break these rules.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of content you create. You give us permission to host, process, display, and moderate that content only as needed to operate, improve, secure, and enforce the service. You must have the right to submit anything you add to Cognitive.

6. Educational and AI-generated content

Questions, plans, explanations, analytics, and AI-generated material may be incomplete or wrong. Check important information with a teacher or trusted source. Cognitive supports learning but does not replace professional educational, medical, legal, financial, or safeguarding advice.

7. Premium, payments, and cancellation

Prices, included features, billing periods, and renewal details are shown before checkout. Demo checkout does not process real payment. Where real billing is enabled, you authorise the displayed charges. Cancellation stops future renewal but does not automatically refund previous charges, except where required by law or expressly stated.

8. Privacy and safety

Do not place sensitive personal information in user-created content. We use account and activity information to operate and secure Cognitive. Following account deletion, we may retain a minimal moderation or transaction record where reasonably necessary for safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or enforcement.

9. Service availability and changes

We may update, limit, pause, or discontinue features. We aim to keep Cognitive available and protect user progress, but cannot promise uninterrupted access or that every feature will always remain available. Keep copies of content you cannot afford to lose.

10. Enforcement and account action

We may investigate suspected violations and remove content, force a rename, remove Premium access, suspend an account, or permanently delete an account. We aim to act proportionately, but urgent safety or security risks may require immediate action. Contact support if you believe action was taken in error.

11. Responsibility and liability

Cognitive is provided on an “as available” basis. To the extent allowed by applicable law, we are not responsible for indirect losses, lost progress caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, or decisions made solely from educational or AI-generated content. Nothing in these Terms removes rights or responsibilities that cannot legally be excluded.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms as Cognitive changes or to improve safety and legal compliance. The version and effective date at the top identify the current Terms. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, subject to any additional consent required by law.

13. Questions, reports, and appeals

For questions, safety reports, account-action appeals, or legal notices, email support@cognitive-edu.co.uk. Include enough detail for us to investigate, but do not email passwords or unnecessary sensitive information.
